NC Museum of Art: Weekend Family-Friendly Tours

From Sarah C.:

Looking for indoor entertainment this weekend to beat the heat? Consider taking your family to the NC Museum of Art for one of the Weekend Family-Friendly tours. These half hour tours occur on Saturday and Sunday morning and are geared for ages 5-11, but any age is welcome. We recently took our 5 year old son and infant daughter.

NCMA Weekend Family-Friendly ToursThe tour guide led the group through the West Building to various pieces of art based on the week’s theme. During our visit, the guide gave some explanation/description of the art and then asked the children about it. The answers (and even some questions) received were quite interesting. It was a nice exposure to the children of different art and seeing how, even if the artist intended one thing, you might take away a different interpretation.

Fun detail I learned during our visit – if you forget your stroller (or your “non-stroller riding child” suddenly decides they are too tired to walk or wants one), the NCMA has a few strollers available to borrow free of charge! First come, first serve. Just ask at the Information Desk in either building.
