From Sarah C.:
Looking for indoor entertainment this weekend to beat the heat? Consider taking your family to the NC Museum of Art for one of the Weekend Family-Friendly tours. These half hour tours occur on Saturday and Sunday morning and are geared for ages 5-11, but any age is welcome. We recently took our 5 year old son and infant daughter.
The tour guide led the group through the West Building to various pieces of art based on the week’s theme. During our visit, the guide gave some explanation/description of the art and then asked the children about it. The answers (and even some questions) received were quite interesting. It was a nice exposure to the children of different art and seeing how, even if the artist intended one thing, you might take away a different interpretation.

Fun detail I learned during our visit – if you forget your stroller (or your “non-stroller riding child” suddenly decides they are too tired to walk or wants one), the NCMA has a few strollers available to borrow free of charge! First come, first serve. Just ask at the Information Desk in either building.
