A Wee Bit Used

A Wee Bit Used closed its doors 6/2011. Such a sweet person ran this business, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors!

Thanks to a great reader-tip, I happened to spend some money at a cute consignment shop in Hillsborough (my DH thanks you as well, I am sure). Turns out this is the only consignment shop in Hillsborough, too, so I feel extra special telling you about it.

Located right off of old 86/Churton Street in the Daniel Boone Village, A Wee Bit Used is a wee bit hidden. But it is worth scoping out.

There are, of course, a lot of clothes in here. But this consignor also has a bunch of things that I haven’t seen elsewhere. There are cribs, outdoor play furniture, play tables, and more.

The woman who owns the shop is sweet as can be. She is very professional: all gear and toys are very clean and with fresh batteries so you can try it out before buying. When I bought C a little toy (for $4, I might add), she wiped it off meticulously to ensure it was spotless and ready to go.

This is a true consignment shop. Meaning that you bring your item in, if it is clean and in-shape, she tries to sell it. When/if it sells you get 40% of the selling price.

By the way, if you love to “go antiquing” there are a bunch of stores in this shopping center that you will also love.

I have really been able to find a lot to buy here, as well as sold a lot as well!

This place really was great. I loved the diversity of her stuff. It was a great tip!

It’s not a great deal for sellers, though. You get a much bigger percentage if you take your stuff to one of the big consignment sales.

You might get a little more at big consignment sales, but she is open year round not twice a year. Also, she does all the tagging for you and is there all day, every day selling your things not two or three days, and you also have to tag your own items.
