S’Kids Drop-In Childcare

A special post about a drop in childcare spot in Apex.  I am in Chapel Hill so didn’t get to try this out hands-on but a very good friend of mine has taken her almost 3 year old here a few times and here’s what she thinks (PS, we have more childcare spots around the Triangle at this link here.  Don’t be afraid to use the good ones, we all deserve a break now and again!).:

It can be very difficult to find a trustworthy and reliable babysitter that is also available when you need them, rather you need to get some work done, do some shopping, or simply take a nap. I live in South Cary near Holly Springs, and have been taking my 2.5 year old son to S’Kids Drop-In Center in Holly Springs for the last few months, and we both love it. He is happy when I drop him off, and is always just as happy when I pick him up.

No reservations are needed, and they are open early in the morning during the week and late in the evening on the weekends.  The rates are cheaper than hiring most babysitters at $8/hr, and all staff members are CPR-certified, have criminal background checks, and a significant amount of child care experience. Everyone has been very friendly and remember my son every time we walk in. They watch children from 12 months (and walking) to 12 years.

They have plenty of fun activities for the kids, although my son seems to only have eyes for the train table and dinosaurs. They provide natural, organic snacks. Lunch and dinner are only $4 extra, or you can provide your own food.S’Kids Drop-In Childcare

The one time I took my kids there, it was a mess. They were packed full of kids, had all the little kids in a pack in play in front of the tv, and the big kids were knocking over the big toys (like the tool station) and dragging it around the room. In my opinion, it was unsafe, and understaffed.

Wow, there’s a TV there? Um, no thanks.
