Trinity Park – Durham

toddler playground

During a break in the rain a few weeks ago my boys and I found ourselves in downtown Durham.  We decided to swing by (pun!) Trinity Park and try out their playground.

This playground is beautiful.  There are two distinct areas: one for older kids, a second completely fenced in for younger kids.  There is a huge pavilion with picnic tables for relaxing.

The landscaping is beautiful – the community clearly takes time and care.  There are herbs, flowers in bloom, and many beautiful colors.  The best, though, has to be the old trees.  The playground is set amidst some of the biggest, gorgeous, oldest trees.  So shade here is great, plus it looks pretty!

The ground cover is sand.

My only complaint about this playground is that it is somewhat close to a major road.  Parking was really easy and the neighborhood is nice, there is just 1 road nearby where traffic moves pretty fast.  Watch for runaways.

Full list of amenities:

  • Grills(2)
  • Picnic Tables(5)
  • Playground
  • Picnic Shelter(SMALL)
  • Water Fountain

Trinity Park is close to a lot of favorite downtown places (we went to The Parlour, review coming soon) so you could easily head to Bull City Burger or Daisycakes.
