I have waited a long time for McIntyre’s Books to start a storytime, and I am so glad they finally have!
McIntyre’s Books is the cute, locally owned book store in Fearrington Village. Yes, near the cows and the same place that has live music in the summers.
Now, every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, McIntyre’s is offering a storytime at 11 am.
This was a very cute storytime. It had a wonderful Pittsboro flair. The storyteller was a man (thank you! men read, too, kids!) reading the books – and with a lot of character voices – and the music was not kids’ music but live, well-picked back porch style music that I couldn’t get enough of.
The setting was casual. There was a large quilt set up in the back room. There were quite a few babies of the 6 months old age and they gleefully rolled on top of each other. There were also some toddlers of the 2 year age and they gleefully smacked each other…and listened.
The leader of the group genuinely wanted feedback but I thought this was great as is. Casual yet intriguing for the kids. The books were brand new to us. It wasn’t too regimented and planned but with enough activity to hold my active son captive.
I can’t wait to head to another one of these.
