Jack Smith Park – Cary

Along with a lot of other parents, I’ve been watching and counting down for this one all summer – Cary just opened a brand new park including the Town’s first sprayground.

The playground features 2 play structures and 5 swings (2 traditional, 2 bucket & 1 tire) situated on a rubberized surface. Adjacent to the playground is a single climbing rock (similar to North Cary Park) and a large open field as well as the sprayground area.

The landscaping is beautiful and includes a number of new trees, but this also means limited shade. The smaller play structure does have a canopy overhead and a few small picnic tables scattered around the space have a fixed umbrella each. The single shelter is the one spot where you will find good shade, but, take note that it will be available for rental so it might not be open for use during your visit.

Since this park is new and highly anticipated, my best advice – go early. We arrived shortly after 9am and only a couple other cars were in the parking lot (hence the empty playground photos). About 30 minutes later the lot by the playground was full with cars circling. There is additional parking next to the dog lot at the front of the park. It’s a short walk to the playground.
